You cannot grow up in Buncrana without being touched by the goings on in Derry city, especially during the 70s-90s when our Jackie was there. Jan. 30th, 2022 is the 50th anniversary of the Bloody Sunday Massacre in Derry. In remembrance of the innocent victims of that day, we will be showcasing all things Derry Irish, starting with a moment of silence around noon to remember the victims, the survivors, their friends and families, and the ongoing fight for justice that continues to this day.
The rest of the day we'll be celebrating the region with a featured Irish whiskey flight that will showcase Quiet Man whiskey which is made in Derry, along with St. Brendan's Irish cream, which is made with Quiet Man whiskey. Our drink specials include a spicy, boozy Mary made with Irish Poitín and a Michael Collins which is like a Tom Collins but with Irish whiskey instead of gin. Or try a regular, sweeter, new favorite - our Derry Girl cocktail.
Our Buncrana Band will be here playing traditional Irish music from 4PM on. Sit in for a listen and let the tunes transport you to Peadar O'Donnell's on Waterloo St. in Derry for awhile. Pass the time by grabbing an Irish history book or 2 from our shelves and having a read. Above all, spare a thought and raise a glass to the city of Derry and its people who all have something inside, so strong.
