The Irish American Writers and Artists, founded by Malachy McCourt, aim to highlight, energize, and encourrage Irish Americans that are active in the arts. They celebrate and support artistic freedom, human rights, and social justice. Originally centered in NYC, the organization has taken their show on the road, offering salons across the nation and we’re thrilled to have them here at Sláinte Oakland.

At IAWA salons, you may find poets, writers, playwrights, storytellers, dancers, or comics performing their work. Whether aspiring or accomplished, the artists find encouragement and respect at these gatherings and audiences always enjoy the show and the opportunity to network with the community.
